I found my first Ulla stool in the late 1990s at a local thrift store in Finland but at the time I didn't know that it had that name. The stool was marked O. Kettunen and as the internet was less of a thing back then, and no books made a mention of the designer, there wasn't really any way of finding our more information about it.

Close to 30 years would go by until I discovered the full name of its creator and got in touch with Ola’s son Ari in California.
